Part of the Piedmont Triad with Winston-Salem and High Point, Greensboro has a history linked with higher education. Five colleges and universities are located within the city, helping to encourage the city's cultural identity. As well, the Eastern Music Festival brings world-class musicians and performers to Greensboro for one month each June and July. The building that houses the Greensboro Historical Museum is listed on the National Register for Historic Places, and dates back to 1892.
